Tolls are they worth it? In New Jersey you are required to pay tolls on the major roadways. I it is not worth it. It puts unnecessary emissions from cars in the air while lines and lines of cars lay idle waiting to pay their toll of one dollar, fifty cents, or 25 cents. Cars aren’t allowed to lay idle anywhere else accept when waiting in line to pay their toll. Recently the two major highways put in a system called Easy Pass this is a hi-speed toll mechanism which allows toll to be paid through your bank account at speeds up to 65 mph. This will a multimillion dollar item which caused one of the major roads to go bankrupt, and merge with the other. An argument can be that the tolls have been up for over 50 years and don’t require much money to keep them maintained. This is not true drains on the toll system include their employees. These people replace malfunctioning machines or make change and give receipts these people get paid salary, and get full benefits because they are state workers. These toll plazas tend to back up traffic, and are open even in the worst weather (Hurricanes and Snow storms). Outdated government establishments like these are draining tax money to keep them functioning.
A slow day on the New Jersey Turnpike.
