Ghettos

I really love entertaining the fact of helping people who are in ghettos, but do they want to be helped. It is hard to help people in ghettos because it is unclear of a place to start. If you start with unban renewal it forces the true poor people out the neighborhood and into other areas for the city. If you start after school programs the usually fail. Out of a school of 2,000 students you might have a track team with 12 people and a band of 6 people. The way to start with a ghetto is to eliminate the dependence that the community has on illegal drugs. If you eliminate that dependence they the community can start healing itself. Then the programs that are being implemented will start to flourish. Drugs and drug trafficking can ruin families, communities, and schools. Without a strong base in a community you cannot build effective programs. because drugs are such a problem little can be done to help these suffering communities.
